“The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, He will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.” - Rom. 8:11

Holy Spirit,
Wow.
Just wow.
Ever since I learned this truth that the living and loving God of the universe lives inside of me, I have been awed.
The very One who woke Jesus up from the dead lives in me to keep me alive in Christ.
Again . . . wow.
Holy Spirit, You are not some “extra” part of God.
You are the very essence of God.
Third Person of God.
And You have decided it best and You have desired it most to live inside of me.
Wow.
May I never fail to be awed by this truth.
May I ever strive to be fully alive!

“If you live your life led by your flesh - your fallen, corrupt nature - then your mind is focused on the matters of the flesh. But if you live your life led by the Spirit - God’s indwelling presence - then your focus is on the work of the Spirit.
A mind focused on the flesh is doomed to death, but a mind focused on the Spirit will find full life and complete peace.” - Rom. 8:5-6

Holy Spirit,
Doom or peace?
That really is our choice.
And the difference between the two is You.
Teach us how to have a mind focused on the Spirit.
Show us how to live a life led by the Spirit.
We really don’t want doom.
We truly do want a full life and complete peace.
And that can only happen by learning how to surrender our minds and our lives to You, Holy Spirit.

Holy Spirit,
Forgive us for chasing new things that flash brightly only to get our attention.
We are still so often like children on Christmas afternoon, already bored with our gifts that we received just hours earlier.
Forgive us for forsaking the “old story” and the “old power.”
Help us plumb the beautiful depths of the timeless story of the Father’s love and Jesus’ sacrifice - all made real to us by the Spirit’s power.
We declare our faith in the Gospel.
We receive our power from the Ghost.
In the “old” and faithful and proven name of Jesus we pray, Amen!

“Let us step boldly to the throne of grace, where we can find mercy and grace to help when we need it most.” - Heb. 4:16

“Brothers and sisters, in the light of all of God’s amazing mercies, I urge you to offer your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice to God . . .” - Rom. 12:1

Holy Spirit,
Because of the incredible mercy we have been given, we can be bold for the Kingdom of God.
Because of the continual mercies we receive, we can offer our lives as holy sacrifices for the Kingdom.
Please keep reminding us, Holy Spirit, of this life-transforming mercy which is offered by the Father to His children and made possible by the work of Jesus on the cross.
We live bold and sacrificially by Your power alone!
In the one and only name of Jesus we pray, Amen!

“He came to save us. It’s not that we earned it by doing good works or righteous deeds; He came because He is merciful. He brought us out of our old ways of living to a new beginning through the washing of regeneration; and He made us completely new through the Holy Spirit, who was poured out in abundance through Jesus the Anointed, our Savior.” - Titus 3:5-6

Holy Spirit,

It’s only by mercy that we are saved from our old ways.
It’s only by mercy that we can live a completely new, born-again life.
And it’s only You who can do both because of what Jesus has done.
We receive Your mercy this day.

“Let’s drop every extra weight that makes us spiritually lazy, every sin that clings to us and slows our pace, so that we can finish well the race that Jesus expects us to finish.” - Heb. 12:1

Holy Spirit,
We confess any and all areas of our lives that have become spiritually lazy.
We admit that it’s easy over the years to “pack on some pounds” that make our Christian pace more plodding and difficult than it should be.
Reveal any clinging sin that is slowing and stunting our growth.
We truly want to run and finish this race well, just as Jesus expects us to.
